Using textile coatings, you can easily transform any, even the most unsightly interior. In addition, they are easy to apply, allow the walls to "breathe", provide excellent sound and heat insulation. Not surprisingly, more and more homeowners opt for this material. However, sometimes some problems may arise when using it. Today we will talk about what to do if the liquid wallpaper has dried out in spots .

Eliminate the causes of yellow spots

High-quality textile coverings of TM "Style" do not become stained by themselves. It's easy to check. Apply the material to a sheet of white paper - you will not see any spots. Often liquid wallpaper turns yellow due to poor surface preparation.

To prevent this from happening, it is imperative to adhere to the recommendations outlined below. You can also read the full instructions for applying liquid wallpaper .
First of all, remember that the surface must be white or the color of the wallpaper, primed and freed from the previous finishing materials, whitewash, damaged putty, wooden and metal elements not covered with enamel.

Most often in modern buildings, textile coating is applied to:

  • Concrete. Concrete, plaster or clay should be pre-treated with a white or clear acrylic primer. Then the starting putty is used, after which the walls must be re-primed after drying.
  • Drywall. In this case, the procedure is identical. Treat the walls with an acrylic primer (white or transparent), apply a starting putty and prime again. Only after completing all these steps, you can be sure that there are yellow spots on the liquid wallpaper will not appear.

Wooden surfaces are less common. They must be treated with PF-115 enamel. Textile coating can be applied to the surface only after the paint has dried.
If it is planned to apply wallpaper to pipes or other metal elements built into the wall, it is also recommended to cover their surface with a layer of enamel.

Our company recommends using Ceresit CT-16 adhesive priming paint. This tool perfectly levels the surfaces, and makes them slightly rough, and prevents problems with liquid wallpaper.

If you could not find this primer, you can use other products, as long as they are white or colorless, acrylic based and deep penetrating. Do not use Ceresit CT-17 primer. It can cause yellow spots.

Removal of yellow spots

If you didn’t properly prepare the surfaces, and the wallpaper still turned yellow, wait until it dries completely and do the following:

  • Mix "Whiteness" (or some other bleaching agent with chlorine) with water in a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3, depending on the intensity of the color of the material.
  • Fill the spray bottle with the mixture. Spray it on the stains. After a few minutes they will disappear.
  • On white coatings, the mixture can be applied with a sponge, avoiding rubbing.

Pay attention to respiratory protection during such a procedure, you need to at least ventilate well!

To remove stains from colored wallpaper, it is better not to use chlorine-containing products. It is more expedient to soak the yellowed area, remove it, prime the surface, and after the primer dries, re-apply a new layer of wallpaper from the same collection in this place, smoothing the edges.

We hope we have answered the question of what to do if the liquid wallpaper has turned yellow. Trouble-free repair and stylish interiors to you!
